Lo, A Great Sign Appeared In Heav'n

Words: Adapted from the Liturgy for the Assumption by Robert Loretz
Music: Anton Brucker
This is a setting of texts used in the liturgy each year for the feast of the Assumption of Mary. The first verse is an adaptation from Revelation 12, where Mary is revealed as glorious in the gaze of God. The second is from the great 'bridal psalm' (44/45) between the King and his Bride (the new Israel, the Church, epitomised in Mary), and the third verse is her graced response to God's goodness as expressed in the opening of the Magnificat of Mary, from the visitation to Elizabeth in Luke's gospel. The music used is by the composer Anton Bruckner.
